In Engineering and Technology areas, the university has planned to develop employment-related continuing education programmes aimed at increasing job potential and economic advantage for the learner. The programmes are to be at the tertiary level.
The objectives of the programme are:
- Upgrading educational qualification of learners;
- Creating opportunities for in-house training in industries for continuing education;
- Promoting the educational well-being of the community; and
- Offering need-based academic programmes.
Evaluation System
In this section, the evaluation system adopted for Certificate Programmes in Shoe Upper Cutting duly approved by Academic Council has been presented.
Marking System

A course under a programme in BTCM/BTWRE/ADCM/ADWRE is implemented on Semester Pattern.

Evaluation System for a course will consist of a Continuous Evaluation Component and a Term-End-Examination. Continuous Evaluation Component, depending on course requirements, may represent any suitable combination of following types of evaluation components : Periodic Assignments, Functional Assignments which in turn may include Syndicate Exercise, Work-related field projects, Technical Visits, etc. Term-End-Examination, amongst other items, may also include objective type questions apart from descriptive questions.

Continuous Evaluation and Term-End-Examination components under a course will be assessed by awarding marks. A course will have total 100 marks.
The students will be awarded marks in continuous assessment and term end components as given below :

(d) Thus, a student will receive marks for Continuous Evaluation part and for
Term-End-Examination part for each theory course. In order to clear a course, a student will have to clear both the segments, i.e. continuous and Term-End Evaluation (or Guided and Unguided Components in context of laboratory courses).

To facilitate statement of overall performance at any point of time during the programme or at the end of the programme, the calculation of overall percentage will be based on the weighted average system and the precision will be up to the one point after the decimal.
Calculations will be carried out using the following scheme :

Evaluation for Laboratory Courses

Laboratory courses are same as other course in Engineering and Technology in terms of marking system based evaluation.

The method for evaluation is as given below :
Evaluation of Laboratory Courses will be done in two components.
Component (i) 70% marks will be allotted for a set of guided experiments to be carried out by students. These experiments would be marked by the Study Centre/Programme Study Centre/Work Centre counsellors as per the marking scheme prepared by the discipline group.
Component (ii) 30% marks will be allotted for a set of (one or more) assigned unguided experiments to be carried out by the students at the end of the laboratory course session after the completion of all guided experiments.

Counsellors and/or external examiners will be there for evaluation of assigned unguided experiments.

The requirement of assignments will be deleted in case of laboratory courses.

The total marks awarded in a laboratory course will be by adding marks obtained in two components mentioned above in accordance with the weightage attached. For success in the laboratory course, one has to score atleast 45% marks in each component alongwith an overall marks of 50%.

A student with less than 75% of attendance in the residential term of laboratory course will not be considered for evaluation.
